The vet said that treatment was the same whether Ella’s toe was broken or not (so she didn’t x-ray), and that casting it might do more harm than good. She gave her Rimadyl, and antibiotics for the split pad, and said to check back next week if she didn’t seem to be improving, or earlier if she got worse or went off her feed.
The Cleveland shows may be out for little Ella Mae, but on the bright side she is a very cute and happy hobbler and is delighted by the extra, guilt-inspired loves and privelages she’s getting. She is still chasing chickens and humping June unabated… just a little slower.

I think she did it on purpose, for sympathy loves! She’s evil, she is….

Don’t beat yourself up. She planned it just so you would give her extra stuff.
Hope she feels better soon.

Well, the treatment isn’t *quite* the same…ask Hannah. She got a nasty splint only because it was an inside toe. And many cast sores and changes later her toe is slightly crooked. I guess inside toes are weight bearing so need more care. So what part of her poor widdle crushed footsie is it?

An obvious ploy for sympathy. Ella needs some California R & R. I think a winter in milder climes will do her good.

Here’s hoping for a speedy recovery, so that Ella may continue her plans for world dominance.

Hi Kate,
Speaking of the Cleveland show, are you still looking for someone to help you? My neice and I will be up there Saturday and Sunday. She will be showing in juniors but would love to help with your dogs if it works out. We met at the Delaware show a few weeks ago(we jumped your car).
Let us know!
Hope Ella is feeling better today.

Kathy,
I was wondering if I’d hear back from you! So glad that I did.
Sadly, I will probably only have one dog at Cleveland. My baby is three days (BAH!) too young, and I fear Ella may still be broken. If she mostly better by this time next week, I won’t enter her.
Do you know if she’s going to either Erie or the Tallmadge (Columbiana and Rubber City, I think) shows? I will for sure need help for those. Ella should be healed, and June will be showing, so that makes THREE to juggle.
Let me know if you read this.
